Automatic upgrade fails; reinstalling still shows old Codex version
Quick fix
No verified solution yet. #3156 suggests uninstalling and reinstalling; #7080's version-detection issue remains unconfirmed.
Symptom
Section titled “Symptom”mac安装3.15版本升级不成功,自动升级不行,删除了之后重新下载新版本,安装之后还是老版本On macOS, upgrading to version 3.15 failed. Automatic upgrade does not work; after deleting it, downloading the new version again, and installing it, it is still the old version.
#3156 reports that upgrading 3.15 on macOS failed and automatic upgrade was unavailable; even after deleting, downloading, and installing again, the old version still appeared. The issue is closed, but its only comment merely suggests “delete, uninstall, and reinstall.” The original post does not confirm whether this worked, so it is not a verified fix.
#7080 is a related but different symptom: local environment monitoring cannot identify the latest Codex version, preventing manual updates. This issue remains open. One commenter reported that their version number was normal but Codex usage could not be counted, so the available evidence cannot confirm whether the two symptoms share a mechanism.
For #3156, you can try the comment's suggestion to “delete, uninstall, and reinstall.” The original post does not confirm the result; check the displayed version after installation.
If the latest Codex version still cannot be identified after refreshing in “Settings” → “About,” follow #7080. The original post does not yet provide a verifiable solution.
