unsupported call: — Codex tool call failed
Quick fix
No confirmed fix yet; CC Switch must preserve function_call name and call_id in streaming events.
Symptom
Section titled “Symptom”function_call_output: "unsupported call: "When sending a streaming /v1/responses request with tools to Xiaomi MiMo through the CC Switch local proxy, function_call.call_id and name are correct in the response.output_item.added event, but both become empty strings in subsequent response.output_item.done and response.completed events. Codex assembles tool calls from done/completed events, so it rejects these calls.
This issue was reported on CC Switch 3.20.4 on Windows 11. The same request has complete fields with stream: false, indicating the field loss occurs in the streaming SSE aggregation path. This issue remains open and has no confirmed fix.
Report the issue to CC Switch maintainers and provide a streaming SSE capture. The report recommends reusing the call_id and name captured from response.output_item.added when generating output_item.done and response.completed.
If the caller can control the request mode, verify whether stream: false avoids the issue; however, the report notes that real Codex uses streaming requests.
