Codex usage anomaly: tokens consumed during Claude conversations
Quick fix
Closing Codex App reportedly restored normal usage statistics as a temporary workaround. The root cause and an official fix remain unconfirmed.
Symptom
Section titled “Symptom”只打开Codex App时没有 token 消耗,只有同时打开 claude app 并在 claude app 里开始对话后才在使用用量里看到 claude code 和 codex 同时有了 token消耗There is no token consumption when only Codex App is open. Only after opening claude app alongside it and starting a conversation in claude app does the usage view show token consumption for both claude code and codex.
A user on macOS with cc-switch 3.16.1 reported that when Claude App and Codex App were both open and connected to cc-switch local routing, conversations only in Claude App produced token usage records for both applications, each corresponding to its configured model. The user added that the Codex subscription actually consumed tokens, so this report cannot be explained solely as a statistics display anomaly.
Statistics were normal when using only Codex App. The user also reported no consumption when Codex App was open without a conversation, and normal Claude statistics after closing Codex. The original thread did not confirm the source of the anomalous requests or the technical root cause. Although the issue is closed, it contains no maintainer conclusion or official fix record. Beyond the user-reported workaround of closing Codex, the thread provides no verifiable solution.
When you only need to chat in Claude App, temporarily close Codex App. The reporter said this restored normal usage statistics, making it a user-confirmed temporary workaround.
If you need to run both applications simultaneously, watch source issue #3814 for further updates. The original thread provides no verifiable solution or fixed version. Its closed status does not establish that the problem is fixed.
