supported API model names… passed Old Model Name: Codex

Quick fix

After switching providers, the old session still sends the original model name. Start a new Codex session, or restart the old session.

Error output
Provider: DeepSeek; model: kimi-k2.7-code; upstream_status: HTTP 400; cause: The supported API model names are deepseek-v4-pro or deepseek-v4-flash, but you passed kimi-k2.7-code.

The model name was bound when the old Codex session was created, and subsequent requests still include that name. The local proxy forwards requests through the currently selected provider but does not rewrite or map the model name in the request body. As a result, the upstream returns HTTP 400 when you switch to a provider that does not support the old model name.

The maintainer said this issue is the same as #2857 and is being tracked there. Comments mention major changes to configuration switching and the interface in v4.0, but do not confirm whether the error in this issue has been fixed.

  1. After switching providers, start a new Codex session. To continue using the old session, restart it before trying again.
