Optional isolation forced output Claude Code
Quick fix
Set strict: false on ordinary function tools during Responses conversion and preserve the existing required fields in required.
Symptom
Section titled “Symptom”Claude Code 因收到该字段而绕过共享目录 teammate 分支,导致用户无法启动预期的非 worktree teammate。Claude Code bypasses the shared-directory teammate branch after receiving this field, preventing the user from starting the expected non-worktree teammate.
During conversion from Anthropic to Responses, ordinary function tools did not explicitly set `strict`. The Responses backend therefore automatically made the tool schema strict, added optional fields to `required`, and forced the model to output them. When Claude Code Agent receives `isolation`, it switches to another agent mode. A separate report for 4.0.4 says optional `model` and `effort` were also output, affecting subagent model binding; that case did not preserve the complete outbound schema and was not verified with an online comparison.
Upgrade to a version containing the #7717 fix. It explicitly sets `strict: false` on each ordinary function tool in standard Responses and Codex OAuth, while preserving the original `required` subset.

- Does this issue affect optional `model` and `effort`?
- A supplementary report for 4.0.4 says optional `model` and `effort` were also output; however, it did not preserve the complete original outbound schema or verify the behavior with an online `strict` comparison.
