Detected System Environment Variable Conflict; CC Switch Interface Obscured

Quick fix

Upgrade to 4.0 or later. The environment variable conflict notice becomes a page banner with options to dismiss it and view conflicting variables.

This happens as soon as I open the app; it gets stuck in Settings.

Cause

Section titled “Cause”

System environment variables (such as `OPENAI_API_KEY`) override CC Switch configuration, so the app displays a conflict notice. In 3.x, the notice appears as an overlay at the top of the window and may obscure page content. The maintainer said the interface was redesigned in 4.0, changing the notice to an in-page banner with a dismiss button and options to expand, view, and delete conflicting variables.

Fix

  1. Get the latest version from the CC Switch Releases page and upgrade; the maintainer recommends checking whether the issue still occurs on the latest version.

  2. If you still cannot dismiss the notice or use its controls after upgrading, provide the CC Switch version and system information in the issue, preferably with a screenshot.
