/v1/models returns {"models":[]} — Claude Desktop

Quick fix

A user restored 1M with a Python proxy returning model IDs with the [1m] suffix and context_window: 1048576; no reusable code or official fix was provided.

Error output
curl http://127.0.0.1:15721/v1/models returns {"models":[]}

A user reported that connecting Claude Desktop to the cc-switch DeepSeek Anthropic proxy on macOS made /v1/models return an empty list, leaving the model selector empty and reducing context to 200k, even with supports1m: true set on all routes. The user reported that /v1/messages still forwarded requests normally and that model pricing data in the database and provider flags were correct. The user noted that DeepSeek's Anthropic endpoint has no /v1/models and traced the problem to cc-switch's model list synthesis logic.

The user suspected the 3.15.0 change replacing the old [1M] suffix with the supports1m flag, but no maintainer confirmed the root cause in the thread. The user reported restoring 1M support with a minimal Python proxy, making this a user-tested workaround. The issue was later closed as a duplicate; this does not establish that cc-switch fixed it.

  1. Check whether your setup matches the report: Claude Desktop connects to the DeepSeek Anthropic endpoint through cc-switch with supports1m: true, but http://127.0.0.1:15721/v1/models still returns an empty model list. The report also states that /v1/messages works normally.

  2. The user-reported workaround uses a minimal Python proxy to make /v1/models return model IDs with the [1m] suffix and include context_window: 1048576. The user said this restored 1M support, but provided no proxy code or complete deployment steps.

  3. Follow the duplicate discussion linked from the source issue to verify subsequent fix status. The available material provides neither an official fixed version nor complete, directly reproducible fix steps. Do not interpret the closed status as confirmation of a fix.
