DeepSeek Claude Code Configuration and Switching Issues
Quick fix
First confirm the issue type: new terminals or sessions reload configuration. For abnormal DeepSeek cache hit rates, try v3.16.3; other variants remain…
Symptom
Section titled “Symptom”Not logged in · Run /loginThese issues cover several different problems, so one error and one fix cannot explain them all. When DeepSeek goes through the cc-switch proxy, OpenAI-to-Anthropic format conversion may affect prefix caching. One case confirmed that a low cache hit rate was caused by cache tokens being counted twice; this was fixed in v3.16.3, and the user confirmed that upgrading restored normal behavior. Other users reported that environment variables or configuration did not appear to be written, that directly opened terminals still showed Sonnet, or that existing sessions continued using the previous provider after a switch. These involve settings writes, how the terminal is launched, and when the running client session reads configuration. Other issues discuss OpenCode Go WebSearch support, whether Codex Desktop traffic goes through the proxy, balance queries, provider presets, and model validation; they should not be treated as the same failure.
If the symptom is a low DeepSeek cache hit rate in OpenCode Go, upgrade to v3.16.3; the user confirmed that this resolved the issue.
If Claude Code shows the default model after being launched through Win+R or another external entry point, launch it from cc-switch’s “Open Terminal” entry point; the issue says this entry point supplies temporary settings for the current provider.
After switching providers, close the current Claude Code session and restart it, or reload the IDE window, so the new process reads the updated configuration.
If a login prompt still appears after initial setup, check whether `~/.claude/settings.json` contains the provider’s `env` configuration; the user in the issue reported that deleting `~/.cc-switch` and configuring again caused the settings to be written and restored normal behavior.

- Can upgrading restore a low DeepSeek cache hit rate?
- The user in #4243 confirmed that the hit rate returned to normal after upgrading to v3.16.3; the maintainer said the issue was fixed in that version.
- Why does the current Claude Code session still use the previous provider after switching?
- A running session retains the environment variables it read at startup. Close and restart the current session, or reload the IDE window.
- Why does Claude Code show Sonnet when launched from Win+R?
- The issue says an external terminal does not use the cc-switch launch entry point, so it does not receive temporary settings. Launch it from cc-switch’s “Open Terminal” entry point.
- Does the Codex Desktop GUI go through the cc-switch proxy?
- #4527 reports that requests from the Codex Desktop GUI bypass the proxy in that version, but the issue is still open and the corpus contains no confirmed solution.
