Error 2503: CC Switch MSI Installation Fails on Windows 11

Quick fix

Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run msiexec /i with the MSI file path.

Error output
Double-clicking the .msi installer immediately throws **Error 2503** (Windows Installer permission denied).

On Windows 11, double-clicking the CC Switch MSI installer reports that permission was denied. A maintainer replied that the cause was on the client or provider side and could not be fixed by cc-switch; the reply did not explain the specific permission mechanism.

One comment suggested opening Command Prompt as an administrator and running `msiexec /i "C:\yourpath\CC-Switch-v3.16.5-Windows.msi"`. Another user reported that `cc-switch.exe` started normally after downloading and extracting Portable.zip.

  1. Type cmd in Windows Search, right-click “Command Prompt,” and select “Run as administrator.”

  2. In the elevated Command Prompt, run `msiexec /i "C:\yourpath\CC-Switch-v3.16.5-Windows.msi"`, replacing the path with the actual MSI file path; the comment's example uses the v3.16.5 installer.

  3. You can also use Portable.zip: extract it to a local directory and launch `cc-switch.exe`. Users in Issue #4485 and #4487 reported that it started normally this way.

What if “Run as administrator” is not available when I right-click the MSI file on Windows 11?
An issue comment explains that MSI files do not show this option in the context menu by default. Instead, open Command Prompt as an administrator and run `msiexec /i "实际文件路径"`.
Can the Portable version be used as an alternative installation method?
A user reported that `cc-switch.exe` started normally after extracting Portable.zip.
