Still requires login to chatgpt: Codex
Quick fix
Retest after upgrading to CC Switch 4.0; third-party provider configuration should be written to Codex's config.toml.

These reports come from different environments: one user was using CC Switch v3.16.3 on macOS, while another reported CC Switch 3.18 on Windows 10. The maintainer explained that version 4.0 rewrote how Codex configuration is written: third-party provider configuration is written uniformly to [model_providers.custom] in config.toml. When switching to a third-party provider, the official ChatGPT login is temporarily stored locally; it is automatically restored when switching back to the official provider card. Therefore, reports from older versions may not apply to version 4.0; the issues do not confirm whether the problem still occurs in the latest version.
After upgrading to CC Switch 4.0, retest whether Codex still requires login.
If the issue still reproduces, provide the CC Switch version, currently selected provider, whether local routing is enabled, and the contents of ~/.codex/config.toml with secrets removed.

- Can deleting Codex's default configuration or the entire Codex folder solve this?
- One report says the login prompt did not appear again after deletion, while another user tested it and said it did not work; this does not confirm that it is a reliable solution.
- Why does it still require login after switching to a third-party provider?
- The maintainer explained that version 4.0 rewrote how Codex configuration is written; please upgrade to version 4.0 and retest. If the issue still reproduces, provide the version, provider, local routing status, and redacted configuration requested by the maintainer.
