Cause

The Homebrew cask entry `depends_on macos: :monterey` is interpreted as allowing only macOS 12, rather than Monterey and later. As a result, Homebrew blocks installation on macOS 13, 14, and 15 even when CC Switch can run. `brew info --cask cc-switch` displays this condition as `Required: macOS == 12`.

The related issues cover v3.15.0, v3.16.0, and v3.16.2. The maintainer recommended running `brew update` to refresh the cask metadata before retrying, and suggested upgrading to 4.0 in another closing reply. However, neither issue confirmed that the updated cask fully fixed the condition, and one was closed due to inactivity.

Fix

  1. Run `brew update` to update Homebrew and the cask metadata, then run `brew install --cask cc-switch` again.

  2. If you maintain the cask definition, change the Monterey-only condition in `farion1231/homebrew-ccswitch` to allow Monterey and later versions.

  4. If the cask still blocks installation after updating, install manually from GitHub Releases. An issue report confirms that v3.16.2 launches on macOS 15.1 arm64; use `xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/CC Switch.app"` to clear the quarantine attribute.
