I'm unable to call create_file — Claude Desktop
Quick fix
Check and correctly set the upstream format in SWITCH; an incorrect format configuration made the tools unavailable.
Symptom
Section titled “Symptom”I'm unable to call create_file because that tool isn't available in this session. The initial suspicion was that the CC Switch local proxy dropped the `tools` field while forwarding, but maintainers performed end-to-end verification on v3.20.4 and related forwarding paths and could not reproduce it. They suggested that tools may not have been attached when the client assembled requests for a third-party gateway profile, but this remains an unverified inference.
The reporter later confirmed that the root cause was an incorrectly configured upstream format in SWITCH. Therefore, this report does not demonstrate a v3.20.4 defect that drops `tools`.
Check the upstream format setting for the current provider in SWITCH, and change it to a format compatible with the actual upstream API.
Retry the request requiring file tools and confirm that tools such as `create_file` are available in the session.

Section titled “Source Issues”This page is distilled from 1 real issues
- How can I determine whether the problem occurs during client request assembly or proxy forwarding?
- Temporarily point the provider Base URL to a local echo service, compare the direct and gateway request bodies, and provide the corresponding raw curl.
- What other information is needed for troubleshooting?
- Provide the Claude Desktop version, whether the file tools are still shown in the input box, and the `api_format` in the claude-desktop provider configuration.
