These issues do not share a single root cause. In #2158, local testing and debugging worked with a proxy enabled, but opening the terminal showed “Model unavailable in this region.” Comments point to enabling “skip initial installation confirmation” (also described by the user as “do not re-verify login”), suggesting Claude Code may still be going through initial installation, login, or region checks instead of fully using the switched provider configuration. In #944, a custom Base URL and API Key for an Anthropic aggregator such as ZenMux did not work. The maintainer explicitly replied that cc-switch only helps configure settings by editing the configuration file and does not modify requests, so this appears more likely to be a provider gateway compatibility issue than cc-switch altering the request. #6359 is still open and marked bug/stale: when an OpenAI-compatible protocol routes to Ollama cloud, ordinary chat works but tool calls fail. The root cause has not been confirmed by a maintainer, and the issue author only suggested providing cc-switch debug logs, native Ollama logs, and a curl capture with a `tools` field.
In the Claude Code provider settings in CC Switch, enable “skip initial installation confirmation” (one user said they had tried “do not re-verify login”). Save, fully quit the terminal/Claude Code, then reopen it and confirm the target provider is active.
Check that the Base URL, API Key, and protocol selection (Anthropic or OpenAI-compatible) match the provider’s requirements. “Local test works” only shows that the network or one debugging request is reachable; it does not confirm that Claude Code’s login/region checks or tool-call path will work.
For ZenMux or similar aggregators that “fully simulate the Anthropic interface”: according to the maintainer, CC Switch changes configuration, not requests. If the configuration is correct but still fails, contact ZenMux support or switch to an official endpoint or one confirmed to be Anthropic-compatible.
For Ollama cloud with OpenAI compatibility and a local router, if ordinary chat works but tool calls fail: following #6359’s suggestion, collect cc-switch debug logs and native Ollama cloud logs, then capture a curl request to `http://127.0.0.1:<cc-switch 代理端口>/v1/chat/completions` with a `tools` field. Temporarily switch to a model or endpoint confirmed to support tool calls.

Section titled “Source Issues”This page is distilled from 3 real issues
- Why can I still not call the model in the terminal when a proxy/VPN is enabled and local testing works?
- Local success only shows that the network or debugging path is reachable. The troubleshooting direction in #2158 is to enable “skip initial installation confirmation/do not re-verify login” and restart the terminal so Claude Code does not repeat initial installation or login checks.
- Does CC Switch modify requests sent to the provider?
- The maintainer replied in #944 that cc switch only helps with configuration by editing the configuration file and does not modify requests; when a custom Base URL has service issues, also contact the provider’s support.
- If ordinary chat works but tool calls fail, does that mean the issue is resolved?
- No. #6359 is still open and marked stale. It only confirms the symptom: with an OpenAI-compatible route to Ollama cloud, ordinary chat works ✅ while tool calls fail ❌. Add logs and a capture with `tools` as suggested in the issue.
- Will a custom Anthropic Base URL + API Key always work?
- The conclusion in #944 is that it did not work. The maintainer did not attribute this to a cc-switch request-layer issue; if the interface behavior is not fully compatible with the official Anthropic API, aggregators such as ZenMux may not work directly.
