EGL_BAD_PARAMETER: CC Switch White Screen on Linux

Quick fix

For affected Linux AppImage environments, preload the host libwayland-client first. If the white screen remains, try the .deb package.

Error output
Could not create default EGL display: EGL_BAD_PARAMETER. Aborting...

Multiple Linux white-screen reports include `EGL_BAD_PARAMETER`, but the triggering environments are not identical. Closed issue #7335 confirmed through comparison testing that the AppImage's bundled older `libwayland-client.so.0` is loaded first, conflicts with host Mesa/EGL, and causes `WebKitWebProcess` to abort during EGL initialization. Preloading the system library or removing that library from the AppImage restores rendering. In the Wayland report in #5609, the user also reported that preloading host `libwayland-client` allowed startup.

Other reports show that the same white screen can involve different AppImage compatibility issues: #5912 identified an ABI mismatch between host GVFS and the bundled older GLib/GIO; #7709 identified that bundled WebKitGTK could not create an EGL display with a VMware virtual GPU. #5659 is a v3.18.0 white-screen variant on NVIDIA/X11 with no `EGL_BAD_PARAMETER`; none of the listed environment variables worked. Therefore, this page's preload approach cannot be guaranteed for every white-screen case.

  1. Launch the official AppImage from a terminal with the host system's `libwayland-client.so.0` preloaded.

  2. If the problem remains, try the .deb package. In an Ubuntu 26.04 report, the .deb worked on the same machine while the AppImage showed a white screen.

Has anyone solved this? Linux on my other computer has the same issue. Installing the package from AUR also does not work; the ccs UI is completely frozen.
One user suggested adding `LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libwayland-client.so` before the launch command. Another suggested `LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libwayland-client.so.0 /usr/bin/cc-switch`, but the original reporter said the first approach did not work on their machine.

The AUR package does not work in every environment in this cluster. #7709 suggested that Arch's `cc-switch-bin`, which uses distribution `webkit2gtk-4.1`, might resolve its virtual GPU scenario; however, someone in the #5609 discussion also reported freezing after installing from AUR.
