image_detail is invalid: Codex StepFun Screenshot Request Failure
Quick fix
Upgrade CC Switch to v3.20.4; it changes tool screenshot detail: "original" to the StepFun-accepted "auto".
Symptom
Section titled “Symptom”CC Switch local proxy failed while handling Codex endpoint /responses. Provider: StepFun; model: step-5-preview; upstream_status: HTTP 400; cause: url invalid. url: . msg: image_detail is invalidIn CC Switch 3.20.3, images generated by the Codex screenshot tool are sent to StepFun through the Responses-to-Chat Completions conversion path. This path passes `detail: "original"` unchanged, but StepFun's `step-5-preview` rejects that value and returns `image_detail is invalid`. Images pasted directly into user messages use a different path, so they do not have the same issue.
The maintainer confirmed this was fixed in v3.20.4: `detail: "original"` for tool-returned images is rewritten to `"auto"`. Providers using Chat conversion also no longer declare support for `original` in the generated Codex catalog.
Upgrade CC Switch from 3.20.3 to v3.20.4.
After upgrading, switch the StepFun Codex provider again so CC Switch rewrites the Codex configuration and model catalog.
If the current session history already contains screenshots, request again directly; the fix rewrites `detail: "original"` for tool-returned images to `"auto"`.
