The 'glm-5.3' model is not supported - Codex

Quick fix

Upgrade to the latest version and disable proxy takeover. In 4.0.5 aggregation mode, start a new chat if old chats still fail randomly.

Error output
The 'glm-5.3' model is not supported when using Codex with a ChatGPT account.

After an older cc-switch release switches to a third-party provider, it may still route Codex through the ChatGPT account channel. Codex then validates the third-party model name and returns 400. The maintainer said that 4.0 rewrote the configuration-writing logic: third-party providers are written to a separate provider table, while the official ChatGPT login is saved and restored during switching.

The reports are not fully consistent. Reports for 3.16.1 and 3.20.4 were attributed to how older releases retained the login, but 4.0.5 in aggregation mode may still fail randomly only in some existing chats, while new chats can use third-party providers normally. A maintainer also explained that proxy takeover does not support official subscriptions to prevent account bans. With proxy takeover disabled, switching between official subscriptions and third-party providers works normally.

  1. Upgrade the older cc-switch release to the latest version, then switch to the third-party provider again. Starting with 4.0, third-party providers are written to a separate provider table instead of reusing the ChatGPT login.

  2. If you are using an official subscription, disable proxy takeover. The maintainer stated that proxy takeover does not support official subscriptions; normal switching between official subscriptions and third-party providers is not subject to this limitation.

  3. If only some existing chats fail in 4.0.5 aggregation mode, start a new chat before switching to the third-party provider again. The reporter confirmed that new chats work normally.

  4. If the latest version still returns 400, record whether you are using Codex CLI or the desktop app, then submit the version number and the relevant section of ~/.codex/config.toml after switching. Redact the secret before attaching it.

Can I use cc-switch in Codex without logging in to an official account?
The thread did not confirm whether you must sign out of the official account completely. The maintainer advised disabling proxy takeover, after which switching between official subscriptions and third-party providers works normally.
Why does it still say glm-5.3 is not supported after I sign out of ChatGPT and sign in again?
The maintainer believed this was probably related to older releases retaining the ChatGPT login and continuing to use the account channel. Upgrade to the latest version and test again. If it persists, specify whether you use Codex CLI or the desktop app and provide ~/.codex/config.toml with the secret redacted.
Why can only some chats not switch while others work normally?
A 4.0.5 report indicates that the issue may occur randomly in some existing chats under aggregation mode, while new chats can use third-party providers normally. The thread provides no further root cause or official fix conclusion.
