drops non-provider Codex settings: Codex deep-link import drops fields
Quick fix
Update CC Switch to v4.0.13, then re-import the Codex deep link to preserve safe general settings while link parameters manage the connection and key.
Symptom
Section titled “Symptom”However, after confirmation, `build_codex_settings` reconstructs a fixed TOML template and drops non-provider Codex settings such as:After confirming a Codex provider deep-link import, `build_codex_settings` reconstructs a fixed TOML template, so non-provider-specific settings shown in the preview are not written to persistent configuration. Examples listed in the issue include `web_search`, `features.standalone_web_search`, and `tools.web_search.context_size`.
The same thread also reports a variant in which provider table fields are dropped: in v3.20.4, `http_headers` under `[model_providers.custom]` was not written to `~/.codex/config.toml`, and `requires_openai_auth` was rewritten. The maintainer confirmed that v4.0.13 preserves safe general settings, but the thread does not clearly confirm that every provider table field is covered. If fields are still missing, provide the redacted config and import result as requested by the maintainer and reopen the issue.
Update CC Switch to v4.0.13 or later.
Re-import using the original Codex provider deep link so safe general settings are written to the persistent provider configuration.
Check the import result. The connection URL, key, and fields managed by CC Switch still follow the existing rules and are not overridden by inline config.
If fields in the provider table are still not preserved, submit the redacted config from the link and the actual import result, then reopen the issue.

Section titled “Source Issues”This page is distilled from 1 real issues
- Can `http_headers` and the authentication mode in the provider table also be lost because of this issue?
- A user in the thread confirmed that v3.20.4 drops `[model_providers.custom]`, rewrites `requires_openai_auth` to `true`, and prevents the header from being written to `~/.codex/config.toml`. The maintainer only explicitly confirmed that v4.0.13 preserves safe general settings. If these provider table fields still behave incorrectly, provide the redacted config and import result, then reopen the issue.
