Hang When Switching Lightweight Mode, CC Switch

Quick fix

Upgrade to 4.0 or a newer version and check whether the hang still occurs. If it does, provide the triggering action, version, and relevant logs.

Cause

The issue was reported on CC Switch 3.15.0 for macOS. The user said the hang occurred more often when switching lightweight mode. The diagnostic stack contains no symbols, so it cannot identify where the hang occurred; the comment “Looks like a stack overflow” was speculation and was not confirmed.

The maintainer said that 4.0 rewrote the provider switching, configuration writing, and tray-related workflows, so the call paths in 3.15.0 have changed substantially. The issue is closed, but there is no user feedback confirming whether upgrading resolved it.

Fix

  1. Upgrade to 4.0 or a newer version, then check whether switching lightweight mode still causes a hang.

  2. If the issue still reproduces, record the version, the triggering action (for example, switching from the tray or main window), and the logs for the relevant time period in ~/.cc-switch/logs/cc-switch.log, then reply to that issue or open a new issue.
