Cause

The user reported that switching models through sswitch had no effect, and that manually editing Claude’s setting file caused the configuration to be cleared after a restart. One user reported that switching worked after clicking `reset` and advised backing up important information first. The maintainer said 4.0 rewrote how Claude Code writes configuration: when switching providers, it replaces only key fields such as the address, key, and model, instead of overwriting the entire `settings.json` with old data, and recommended trying again on the latest version.

Fix

  1. Back up important information, then click `reset` in CC Switch; one user reported that switching worked afterward.

  2. Upgrade to the latest version and try again. The maintainer said 4.0 improved how Claude Code writes configuration. If the issue still occurs, provide the CC Switch version, system, provider, and the before-and-after changes to `settings.json` with the key redacted.
